New Year's Eve 2012: The World Celebrates 2013

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- The concert doesn't start for an hour but it feels like any minute for fans who have been in line since 10 a.m. for tonight's HOT New Year's Eve Party in downtown Grand Rapids. Holly Oates, of Hersey, is a die-hard Jesse McCartney fan.

Some of us don't have the privilege of littering the nighttime streets of Denver for New Year's Eve. We could be short on cash, don't have a baby sitter, there was a lack of planning or a combination of all of these things.

The final day of 2012 began with a glorious sunrise … and made way for New Year's Eve with a glorious sunset. Thanks to Doug Branch for the top photo, taken from Beach Drive; the photo below was tweeted by Lori Williams

Thanks to Lise Thivierge for sharing the view from the West Seattle Water Taxi dock at Seacrest (regular schedule today but no WT service tomorrow, by the way). Beautiful start to the year's final day. ADDED: More views!

Anyone not out at New Year's eve parties or concerts can watch the ball drop with CBS' coverage of the celebration in New York City. Check out the live stream below from Times Square courtesy of Ustream and Reverb's
